Dear Andrew I write further to my letter of the 21st March. Are you responsible for the leaflet entitled "A New Frontier for Britain" which was distributed this weekend at some BP forecourts? If not please pass this letter to the responsible person in BP. In the section concerned with global warming the leaflet says:
"BP Solar, our solar power subsidiary, is the second- largest company of its type world-wide and has just signed a deal with the Philippine Government for a solar project...." Can you please confirm that in fact that deal was signed by BP Solar Australia. In the section concerned with risks, there is a statement :
"Friends of the Earth (Shetland) praised our efforts to communicate with local organisations in drawing up the Assessment." Would you be good enough to let me know what form that praise took? If you have a letter or other document, may I see it please? In the section concerned with the Atlantic Frontier, you describe the Foinaven project thus:
"Foinaven will not increase UK Continental Shelf projection, it will merely offset this decline" Will you please confirm that Foinaven is not the only new development you envisage for BP in the Atlantic Frontier. If this is correct, can you please set out in detail all the proposed new BP (partly or wholly owned) development projects in the area as well as all applications made for licenses in the 17th Round which closed yesterday? I would appreciate your urgent attention to these issues. In view of the great public awareness, you will, I am sure, understand, if I make this correspondence available to the public. Yours sincerely
Sarah J. Burton
